'This place right here, this skull between my ears, that is a bad neighborhood, and I should not be in there alone. I can't be in there by myself. It's insane! It's crazy in here. This is a bad place for me to be by myself. And so when I'm in that, my whole life gets thrown off. If I'm in there, I don't say nice things to myself. There's another Chester in there that wants to take me down.'
Five months later, Chester Bennington would tragically take his own life.
The musiciancandidly discussed his battle with depression with 102.7 KIIS-FM, one of the last interviews he gave before heading out on the road with Linkin Park for their One More Light World Tour. The globally-recognized band performed 21 dates before Bennington's body was found hanging in his Los Angeles home. Linkin Park promptly cancelled the tour, instead embarking on a journey to keep Chester's legacy alive by highlighting the importance of mental health.
An autopsy revealed that Chester Bennington had alcohol in his system at the time of his death. The report, first published by TMZ, said that the singer was not under the influence of drugs at the time of his death.
The Linkin Park frontman died of suicide by hanging this past July. The new report, which is viewable as a PDF, contains a section by the police officer who found the singer’s body. A dresser in the room contained a prescription for generic Ambien with one pill broken in half; the section that says who the prescription was made out to was blacked out prior to publication. The officer also wrote that there was a glass of Corona less than half full, as well as an empty bottle of Stella Artois. Also present was a journal with a biography that was handwritten but not dated. There was no suicide note.

In the report, the coroner wrote, “autopsy findings are characteristic of suicidal hanging. There was a history of suicidal ideation.”
TMZ reports that Bennington’s wife, Talinda, had informed the authorities of the singer’s previous attempt at death by suicide, including one time in 2006 when he left the house with a gun after drinking heavily. Fingernails were found underneath his iPhone, and Talinda said this was a habit he had when he was anxious. She said he was recently in an outpatient treatment program and that to her knowledge he hadn’t taken antidepressants in a year.
Earlier this year, friends of Bennington told Rolling Stonethat the singer had been struggling to maintain his sobriety over the past year. A month before his death, he told his friend, guitarist Ryan Shuck, that he had been sober for only six months. And when Shuck told him that he too was struggling, Bennington sent him text messages in support. “He was describing an hour-by-hour battle with addiction,” Shuck said. “When I look at it now, it’s horrifying. He was telling me, down to the detail, what he would do in the first hour he wanted to drink: ‘I basically just take it hour-by-hour every day.'”
At the time Shuck said he knew Bennington had been drinking at the time of his death. “We don’t know how much [he drank], but it doesn’t take much when you’re that advanced an alcoholic and an addict and you’re battling to the extent he described to me,” he said. “You don’t need much to lose your mind for a minute.”

In the days following Chester Bennington’s unexpected suicide, people are questioning how someone could leave six children and a loving wife behind. That is being reinforced by a heartbreaking note from Chester’s son Tyler written just weeks before his suicide.
The legacy of Chester Bennington won’t be defined by his music. It will now include a suicide that has confused millions of fans, and left friends and family devastated. But the suicide has also drawn serious critics, all of whom wonder how someone could do something so extremely selfish.
That includes Korn’s Brian ‘Head’ Welch, who blasted Chester Bennington as a coward for leaving six kids and a family behind. Welch is no stranger to depression, drug abuse and hitting rock bottom. But perhaps his experiences dealing with the pitfalls of fame have made him acutely aware of its downsides.
And, far less sympathetic to those that check out. “Giving up on your kids, fans, and life is the cowardly way out!!!” Welch angrily wrote last week.

Why Did Chester Bennington Commit
Now, we’re getting a better glimpse at exactly what Chester Bennington left behind. It’s a post-it note written just weeks before the singer killed himself from the singer’s son, Tyler. Chester’s wife Talinda Bennington affixed the post-it note on Chester’s coffee mug, so he’d see it before he hit the studio.
“Dad, enjoy your rehearsal or whatever you’re doing today,” the note relayed. “Love life because it’s a ‘Castle of Glass’,” it finished, referencing Linkin Park’s 2012 track.
Chester Bennington killed himself on July 20th.
The suicide closely follows that of Chris Cornell, who also hung himself. Incidentally, Bennington and Cornell were close friends, and Bennington’s suicide occurred on Cornell’s birthdate. Both suicides were extremely unexpected, with both surrounded by caring families while enjoying successful careers.
That has fueled rumors and speculation that these were murders, though scant hard evidence supports those theories.

Chester Bennington may have mimicked the suicide of his close friend, Chris Cornell, because they died in virtually identical ways.
Law enforcement sources tell us, the Linkin Park singer was found hanging from a door separating his bedroom from his closet. TMZ broke the story, Chris Cornell died hanging from a hotel door separating the bedroom from the bathroom.
We're also told Chester was found with a belt around his neck. Chris was found with an exercise band around his neck.
Our sources say there was a partially empty bottle of alcohol in the room where Chester died, but no evidence of drugs.
And we're told Chester did not leave a suicide note in the room. Greek non dairy yogurt. Neither did Chris.
Dairy free milk that tastes like milk. TMZ broke the story .. Chester killed himself on Thursday, which would have been Chris Cornell's 53rd birthday.
The Los Angeles County coroner has confirmed the cause of Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington’s death.

The 41-year-old was found by an employee on Thursday in the bedroom of his house and while a note has not been found, the death is being treated as a suspected suicide. An autopsy is pending.
Bennington had spoken about his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, as well as depression. “My whole life, I’ve just felt a little off,” he said in an interview earlier this year with Music Choice. “I find myself getting into these patterns of behaviour or thought – especially when I’m stuck up here [in my head]; I like to say that, ‘This is like a bad neighbourhood, and I should not go walking alone.’”
The singer had been close friends with singer Chris Cornell, who killed himself earlier this year; Thursday would have marked his 53rd birthday. Bennington performed at his funeral and honored him via a post on social media after his death, saying that he “can’t imagine a world” without him in it. Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell, tweeted yesterday: “Just when I thought my heart couldn’t break any more...I love you.”

Chester Bennington Suicide Why
Tributes have continued to pour in for Bennington from the music industry, with Bennington’s former bandmates at the Stone Temple Pilots (he anchored the band from 2013 to 2015) issuing a statement on their official site, entitled “Chester”.
“It is a sad day today to know that so many of us will no longer share in your laughter, friendship and love,” it reads. “You showed us time and time again what it is to be an incredible human being. A beacon of light and hope is what you will always be to us. We love you Chester. We will miss you.”
Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst also remembered him on Instagram, sharing a picture of the pair with the words “Gonna miss you”, while Placebo warned on Facebook of the “life-threatening nature of the twin demons of addiction and depression”.
It was also revealed that Bennington, along with his fellow band members, had recently wrapped an episode of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden just days before his death. Linkin Park released their last album earlier this year and had been touring before Bennington’s death.
